Introduction
This is designed to help you decide whether the Sixth Form at Ripley St. Thomas is the right choice for you. Decisions taken now will shape your future so it is vital that you make them sensibly. If you do decide to join us, we will do our best both to support you in your studies and to encourage you to make the most of your opportunities.

Entry Requirements
To be accepted on to Applied Advanced Courses and Advanced Courses you need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics. Some subjects state a specific grade requirement so please read the details carefully.
You can stay for one year and complete AS levels or stay for two years to do a complete A level [A2] course. You have to be successful in AS to continue to A2. Most students study four subjects at AS level and three subjects at A2.

- Completion of all work set and deadlines met

What do I do now?
- Talk to your teachers, tutor and parents about your choices
- Make sure that you are likely to get the qualifications for the courses you want to do
- Attend the Sixth Form Open Evening in February
- Fill in your application form and send it as directed to the Head of Sixth Form
- Attend the taster days [details will be available in the application acknowledgement and interview invitation letter]
- Talk to subject teachers about whether the course will suit you
You will then need to attend Enrolment Day on the day following the publication of your GCSE results in August.

- www.suttontrust.com provides details of educational opportunities for students from non-privileged backgrounds.
- www.headstartcourses.org.uk has a summer school programme of pre-university science/engineering courses for students who want to enter those professions.
